An attempt was made to set fire to an Orthodox church in Daphne, Greece

In the Greek town of Daphne, unknown individuals attempted to set fire to the Church of the Life-Giving Spring, causing a blaze on the grounds of the shrine and the adjacent park. Thanks to the timely response of local residents and the swift action of firefighters, serious damage was averted.
The incident occurred around 7:06 a.m. on September 27. Eyewitnesses who noticed the fire in the immediate vicinity of the temple complex immediately contacted emergency services. Fire crews arriving on the scene quickly extinguished the flames, averting a threat to the historic building and the forest park area.
Law enforcement agencies, in cooperation with the fire department, are currently conducting an investigation to identify those involved in the crime. Experts are reviewing footage from security cameras located on the complex’s grounds. The parish community expressed deep concern over the incident, noting that this is the second arson attempt in recent times, and thanked citizens for their vigilance.
