The Khmelnytskyi Diocesan Council Mobilized a Hieromonk of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on His Birthday

An incident involving the forced mobilization of a member of the clergy occurred in the Khmelnytskyi region. Officers from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) mobilized Viktor (Denisov), a hieromonk of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Pokrovsk Vicarage.

The incident occurred on September 28, 2026. According to the Telegram channel of the Pokrovsk Vicariate, the cleric was detained and sent to serve on the very day of his birthday and name day. In church circles, the actions of the military registration and enlistment office staff were described as a gross violation of current legislation.

In light of this incident, believers and members of the clergy were called upon to offer fervent prayers for the health, safety, and protection of the forcibly mobilized clergyman.

As a reminder, on August 17, 2026, in the village of Khvorostov in the Volyn region, Archimandrite Anthony (Dzhezhela), rector of the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, was detained and forcibly mobilized. The Vladimir-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church confirmed the incident and called on the faithful to offer their prayers in support of the clergyman.
