Archbishop Seraphim of Sendai was elected Metropolitan of All Japan

On September 28, 2023, the Extraordinary Council of the Japanese Autonomous Orthodox Church was held in Tokyo, electing its new Primate. This is reported by the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The newly elected Archbishop of Tokyo, Metropolitan of all Japan became Archbishop Seraphim (Tsujie) of Sendai, the Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan Throne of the Japanese Orthodox Church.
It is noted that in accordance with the Tomos on the autonomy of the Japanese Orthodox Church, given to her in 1970, Patriarch Kirill on September 28, his decree approved the election and invoked God’s blessing on the work of the newly elected Primate.
