MP Kravchuk told about the amendments that were made to the bill “on the ban of the UOC”

A Ukrainian MP of the Servant of the People party, Yevheniya Kravchuk, has announced a vote for the scandalous draft law No 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The MP says that the law will be voted on early next week. In addition, the MP reported on the edits that were made to the final version of the bill. She wrote on her Facebook page.
“Spiritual independence, about which Vladimir Zelensky talked about is coming soon! The Verkhovna Rada will consider the bill 8371 next week the first item on the agenda!
Also today, the Humanitarian and Information Policy Committee unanimously gave final approval to the amendments to the bill 8371 and recommended to the Parliament to adopt it in the second reading and as a whole. Thank you colleagues for your unity and constructiveness!
What are the key changes:
— Approved the new name of the bill “On the protection of the constitutional order in the sphere of religious organizations”,
— Made changes to the effective dates of certain norms, as follows:
▪️ The entire law comes into force 30 days after publication;
▪️ The clause that allows the Cabinet of Ministers to prepare the relevant regulatory framework for the implementation of the law — on the next day after its publication;
▪️ The clause that will allow to apply to the court to terminate the activities of a religious organization with links to the Russian Orthodox Church and the aggressor country — 9 months after publication,” — Kravchuk wrote.
In addition, Kravchuk added that the committee added an amendment that will regulate preferential terms for religious organizations in the field of public utilities and rent of religious buildings. All religious communities will have such a right, except those whose connection with the ROC will be proven.
“An important edit for all religious organizations. But only those that have no ties with Russia and the ROC. Clarified regarding the preferential use of state and communal property for religious purposes — free rental of premises by religious organizations for services, rituals and other events. But they added a fuse to prevent abuse — such use only in the order approved by the Cabinet of Ministers,” — the MP added.
We will remind, earlier it became known that the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (AUCRO) supported the adoption of the scandalous bill № 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The corresponding statement was made by Volodymyr Zelenskyy following an online meeting with representatives of the organization.
