The Supreme Court will consider the case of depriving the Ternopil diocese of the UOC of the right of ownership of the land under the cathedral

The Supreme Court of Ukraine will consider the cassation appeal of the Ternopil diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church against the decision of the court of appeal, which took away the land plot under the Cathedral and the diocesan office in the city of Ternopil. The appeal was taken in favor of the Ternopil City Council, which initiated the groundless expropriation of church property. About it reports the regional edition Ternolil.cx.ua.

“Already on the fifth of July, the Office of the Ternopil Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church filed a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court of Ukraine. On July 24, the Supreme Court of Ukraine checked the materials of the cassation appeal and left it without movement. Judge Oleksiy Sluch argued his decision with a number of violations. In particular, the representatives of the UOC did not clearly indicate the grounds on which the cassation appeal was filed and did not register an electronic cabinet. However, on August 5, the Unified State Register of Court Decisions published a ruling in which they reported on the opening of cassation proceedings. And here on September 24 at 12.45 in Kiev will consider the cassation appeal of the UOC”, – stated in the message.

We will remind, earlier we reported that in the Ternopil diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church commented on the situation that has developed around the Cathedral in honor of the martyrs of Faith, Hope, Love and Sophia. The spokesman for the diocese, Archpriest Stefan Balan, said that despite the decision of the first instance courts, the church will continue to defend its interests in the Supreme Court.
