The trial in the case of the Cathedral of Volodymyr-Volyn Eparchy of the UOC postponed again

The court hearing in the case of the possible eviction of the administration of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volyn, which also houses the diocesan administration and theological school, was postponed again. The court made this decision due to the fact that the head of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC, Metropolitan Volodymyr (Melnyk), is still undergoing treatment due to poor health. This was reported by the Volynski Novyny website.
“After the case was postponed, the court received a statement from the defendant’s representative. He is on sick leave. As a confirmation, he provided an electronic referral stating that he has been on sick leave since September 16,” – said Judge Igor Garbar.
In his turn, a supporter of the expropriation of church property of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC, Volyn Regional Council deputy Andriy Bokoch, said that Metropolitan Volodymyr was deliberately delaying the court hearing.
“The first time I was struck when Bishop Volodymyr lied that he was on sick leave, while attending the anniversary of one of his ex-officials. Today, once again, he is also on sick leave. I am sure that he will be somewhere else again and will lie to the court and the authorities that he is undergoing treatment. I am convinced that we will overcome this Muscovite evil from our Ukrainian land, and the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the city of Vladimir will pass into the bosom of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” – said Andriy Bokoch.
Earlier we reported that the Volyn Regional Council filed a lawsuit against the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The subject of the litigation is the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also includes the diocesan administration and theological school of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi Diocese of the UOC, from which the local authorities are trying to evict the Church.
