Russian Foreign Minister confirms that the Ukrainian church issue will be the subject of future peace talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that the Ukrainian church issue will be one of the subjects of future peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. The official said that Russia would not tolerate the ban on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He said this in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

“We cannot tolerate a situation where Ukrainian legislation prohibiting … Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is a violation of Ukraine’s obligations under the UN Charter. Something must be done about it,” — Lavrov said.

It is worth noting that the Raskolam.net website recently published an analytical article titled “How the UOC became the ‘golden calf’ of the Ukrainian authorities”. The publication, in particular, points out that the epic with the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is in fact one of the ways of raising the stakes by the Ukrainian government before the upcoming peace talks with Russia. The author of the article pointed out that the UOC will definitely be the subject of negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
