The heads of the Patriarchates of Constantinople, Jerusalem, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria, as well as the Primates of the Churches of Cyprus, Greece and Albania, expressed their position on the events in Syria.
Patriarch Kirill holds phone conversation with Patriarch John of Antioch
On December 12, 2024, a telephone conversation took place between the Primates of the Russian and Antiochian Orthodox Churches. Patriarchs Kirill and John discussed the situation in Syria and the circumstances in which the Patriarchate of Antioch found itself in connection with the political crisis. The First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church assured the Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church of his full support. This is reported by the ROC DECR Communication Service.
“The Russian people are close to your people, and our Church is close to your Church, Your Beatitude. I want to express our support and our hope that temporary difficulties will pass, peace and justice will be with you and your people. We will do our best to continue to provide all possible assistance to the Holy Church of Antioch. It is very important that our Churches continue to maintain the close contacts that we have established,” – said His Holiness.
