“It does not ban the UOC, it bans the activity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church” - Elensky about the law #3894

The head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, Viktor Yelensky, has once again commented on the scandalous law No. 3894 aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. As before, Yelensky claims that the law does not ban the UOC, but “prohibits the activities of the UOC.” The official’s words were reported by UNN.

“This law is called the law banning the UOC, but this is not true. It does not prohibit the UOC, it prohibits the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as an ideological continuation of the aggressive regime of the Russian Federation as an accomplice to crimes against humanity. This was a resolution of the General Assembly of the Council of Europe. Of course, it does not prohibit the UOC or any other religious organization on the territory of Ukraine,” — Yelensky said.

Earlier, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Dubinsky commented on the reaction of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to the Report of the UN Commissioner for Human Rights, which focuses on the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The deputy claims that the UOC is being used to test the mechanisms of defeating the rights of civil society, which will later be used on other social groups.
