In Volyn, one of the UOC dioceses is accused of defending its rights in courts

The Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is being criticized for defending its rights in court, preventing the transfer of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also houses the diocesan administration and theological school. Regional media joined in the harassment of the Church, spreading the same text stating that the Church is deliberately delaying the transfer of the church complex, defending itself against expropriation in the courts. The articles were published in the media.

“The Moscow Patriarchate, trying to stay in the Assumption Cathedral as long as possible, not wanting to leave the shrine, filed an appeal against the decision of the Volyn Economic Court, which ordered them to vacate the complex of buildings. The hearing was scheduled for January 28. As reported, on November 12 last year, the Economic Court of Volyn Oblast held a regular hearing on the termination of the agreement on the free use of the complex of buildings of the Assumption Cathedral in Volodymyr by the UOC-MP religious organization with the Volyn Oblast State Administration. The court ruled that the agreement with the Moscow Patriarchate should not be extended, that their representatives should vacate the complex of buildings of the Assumption Cathedral and that the religious organization should pay 3,000 UAH in court fees. However, as we can see, the Moscow Patriarchate does not want to leave the St. Volodymyr’s shrine and, in order to delay the process as long as possible, filed an appeal with the Rivne Court,” — wrote Bug and Volyn News Service.

It is noteworthy that one of the aforementioned publications is associated with the MP of Ukraine from the party “For the Future” Ihor Huz. Mr. Guz, who is actively involved in the expropriation of the Cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, called on the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, to influence representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to the MP, the clergy and believers of the UOC violate the rights of activists and representatives of the OCU.
