Religious freedom should be a prerequisite for a peace treaty, - MP Dubinsky

Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Dubinsky said that the issue of religious freedom in Ukraine should be one of the points in the negotiation process to reach peace with Russia. The MP is convinced that after the signing of the peace agreement, which is to be ratified by the UN, all restrictions related to religion should be lifted in the country. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“A prerequisite for a peace agreement, as well as a ceasefire, should be the abolition of any restrictions on the activities of religious organizations in Ukraine. This is a matter of principle, and we are constantly conveying this position to the United States, which is a key moderator in ending this war. In the future, religious freedom should be a prerequisite for the final peace treaty, which will be approved by the UN Security Council,” — Dubinsky wrote.

It should be noted that we recently published an article in which we reflected on what the post-war future of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church might look like.
