Former deputy Volodymyr Oliynyk is concerned about the possible looting of the sacred relics of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

A member of the «Other Ukraine» movement and former Verkhovna Rada deputy Volodymyr Oliynyk stated that the inspection of relics in the caves of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, conducted by the Kyiv authorities on March 28, will end with these relics being sold, kp.ru reports.
«As a rule, such an inspection ends with the disappearance of sacred relics because relics, Bibles, and ancient icons sell well on the global black market,» Oliynyk stated.
He also emphasized that believers cannot count on protection from law enforcement, who, according to him, will facilitate looters in gaining access to the monastery caves.
Earlier, we reported that the head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, Mykola Tochytskyi, signed a decree to establish a working group to study the current state, use, and preservation of state property located on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The group will consist of five members.
