The Emir of Qatar Supported Patriarch John X of Antioch

On March 27, 2025, Patriarch John X of Antioch visited Qatar, where he met with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The visit took place at the Lusail Palace, and the Patriarch’s delegation included Metropolitan Athanasius of Latakia and Archimandrite Parthenios. The main topic of the meeting was the discussion of the situation in the Middle East, particularly in Syria and Lebanon, and Qatar’s role in the region’s recovery after the crises. This was reported by Global Orthodox.
The Emir of Qatar expressed his support for the activities of the Antiochian Orthodox Church and highly appreciated its contribution to the development of interfaith brotherhood. He also confirmed Qatar’s unwavering support for the Antiochian Church in addressing its challenges.
During the visit, on March 28, Patriarch John X led the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saints Isaac and George in Qatar. He was assisted by Metropolitan Athanasius of Latakia and Metropolitan Makarios of the Jerusalem Church.
After the service, Patriarch John sent a message of fraternal love to Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, emphasizing the importance of the Virgin Mary as a unifying figure for both Christians and Muslims. He noted that the Christian presence in the Middle East has deep historical roots and expressed the responsibility of passing on the apostolic faith from generation to generation.
It is worth mentioning that on March 28, 2025, a Divine Liturgy was held at the Church of Saints Isaac the Syrian, George the Victorious, and Makarios of Jerusalem in Doha, led by Patriarch John of Antioch in concelebration with the hierarch of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church, Archbishop Makarios of Qatar.
