OCU cleric is tried in Rivne region for fraud with cars for the Armed Forces

Viktor Haiduk, a cleric of the OCU from Kostopol (Rivne region), will be brought to trial for fraud related to the importation of cars intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Instead of transferring these cars to the Armed Forces as free humanitarian aid, Haiduk managed to sell them to the military. This was reported by the regional publication Rivne Vechirne.

It is reported that the OCU cleric Viktor Haiduk, taking advantage of his position, managed to smuggle three cars across the border in 2022: Nissan X-Trail, KIA Sorento and Mercedes ML. Later, two of the three cars were put up on a free classifieds website and sold to the military, and the other, a Mercedes ML, was seized by law enforcement and arrested by court order.

The police served 43-year-old Viktor Haiduk a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sale of humanitarian aid goods (items) for profit, committed in a significant amount and during martial law). He may face 5 to 7 years in prison.

Earlier, we reported that the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv fined Yaroslav Emkhu, the head of the Bethany Church of Evangelical Christians registered in Lviv, one million hryvnias. The pastor was reportedly involved in the transportation of contraband clothing under the guise of humanitarian aid.
