Phanar hierarch takes part in Catholic Mass dedicated to mourning the Pope

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the head of the American Archdiocese of Phanar, Archbishop Elpidophoros, attended a Catholic Mass in memory of Pope Francis. The event was held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral in New York. It is reported by The Orthodox Times.
Immediately before the service, Archbishop Elpidophoros signed the official book of condolences at the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations. The bishop was greeted by the Apostolic Nuncio, His Eminence Archbishop Gabriele Caccia. The head of the American Archdiocese of Phanar noted the special contribution of the late Pope Francis to the development of ecumenical dialogue.
As we reported earlier, on April 21, 2025, the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko celebrated a “funeral liturgy” for Pope Francis, who died on Holy Monday, at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral.
