Banchensky Monastery Warns About Fraudsters Collecting Money "for the Surgery" of Metropolitan Longin

The Banchensky Monastery has issued a statement regarding a case of fraud related to fundraising allegedly for the surgery of Metropolitan Longin. This was stated in the monastery’s official announcement.

“Christ is Risen! Attention, this is a fake! We inform everyone that no fundraising for the surgery of Metropolitan Longin is being conducted,” the monastery emphasized.

According to the monastery, the fraudulent campaign was organized by a Facebook user under the name “Archpriest Oleksiy Yerema.” This account is currently closed.

The statement also confirms that Metropolitan Longin is indeed in the hospital undergoing treatment, but no fundraising efforts have been announced on his behalf.

As a reminder, on April 23, 2025, Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was urgently hospitalized. The exact reasons for his hospitalization have not been disclosed.
