Lviv will allocate 19 million hryvnias for the restoration of the OCU chapel

The Lviv State University of Life Safety initiated the restoration of the ancient OCU chapel located on the territory of the university. The expected cost of works on restoration of the XIX century architectural monument is more than 19 million hryvnias.

According to the website “Your Misto”, the university has announced a tender for the restoration of the chapel on Kleparivska Street, 35. The winner is planned to be determined at the end of October this year, and the work itself should be completed by November 30, 2027. At the moment, the exact list of planned works is not disclosed, as there is no technical specification in the tender documentation.

It is about the chapel, built in 1860 by the architect Theophilus von Hansen and consecrated in 1863. This structure has a special historical value, as it is the first building in the Neo-Byzantine style in Lviv and is included in the Register of Architectural Monuments of Local Significance. Currently, the chapel regularly holds religious events on Sundays and holidays.

Recall, in Chernihiv began to develop scientific and design documentation for the restoration of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior – an outstanding architectural monument of national importance of the XI century, which some time ago was taken away by the state from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The Ministry of Culture has allocated UAH 1,498,600 for this purpose, which will be used for a comprehensive survey of the building, restoration of the facades and improvement of the adjacent territory.
