In Chernivtsi, TCC officers detained a UOC cleric

On October 25, 2025, in Chernivtsi, employees of the Territorial Completion Center (TCC) detained Protodeacon Valentyn Makovsky, a cleric of the Vvedensky Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The clergyman was taken to the local TCC, which caused concern among believers.
The incident was reported by the Facebook group “Virni Chernivets’ko-Bukovyna diocese of the UOC”. According to the published information, Protodeacon Valentine is currently in the city’s TCC. The faithful call for prayer support for the detained cleric, as well as for the priest Fyodor Hnitetskyi, who, according to them, has been under the jurisdiction of military commissions for a long time.
The report specifically notes that the UOC is the only denomination in Ukraine whose clergy have not been granted a reservation from mobilization by the authorities. This creates a difficult situation, because, according to Church canons and priestly vows, a person in the ministry has no right to take up arms.
We will remind, on October 16, 2025 in Kovel employees of Lutsk territorial center of acquisition (TCC) kidnapped the cleric of the local church in honor of the Pochaev icon of the Mother of God Archpriest Vitaly Popko. The clergyman was detained at his home despite the fact that he has an official deferment from mobilization and four children, two of whom are adopted.
