Sviatogorsk Lavra told about the details of the repeated detention of Metropolitan Arseniy

Metropolitan Arseniy, the rector of the Sviatohorsk Lavra, was detained again by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on October 28, immediately after he was released from custody on bail. Currently, the hierarch, who has serious health problems, is in a temporary detention center.
As the press service of the Sviatogorsk Lavra informs, the decision to release the Metropolitan on bail was taken by the Dnipro Appeal Court on October 23, and the necessary amount was paid on October 27. In the evening of October 28, at 16:59, the Metropolitan was released from the pre-trial detention center without money or means of communication. The SBU officers were waiting for him immediately at the exit, who detained the hierarch and took him to the investigation department.
The SBU officers argued that, in their opinion, the Metropolitan could try to escape to avoid criminal liability. The lawyers of the hierarch, who arrived on the spot, filed a petition for his immediate release, calling the detention illegal and unjustified, but the petition was denied.
On the night of October 29, the metropolitan was taken to the emergency hospital in Dnipro. According to the source, a cardiologist conducted a superficial examination and, despite the available medical documents with recommendations for heart surgery, concluded that he did not need hospitalization. The hierarch was then checked for the presence of alcohol and drugs in his system.
At about 1:20 a.m. the hierarch was brought to the temporary detention center, but because of the queue he was forced to spend an hour and a half in an SBU car. After lengthy bureaucratic procedures, Metropolitan Arseniy was placed in a cell only at 4:00 am. There is no information about the conditions of his detention and current state of health at the moment.
We shall remind you that the Cassation Administrative Court of the Supreme Court of Ukraine rejected the appeal of the Kyiv Metropolitanate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the case of termination of its activity. The court upheld the ruling of the previous instance, which refused to ban the State Service for Ethno-Politics and Freedom of Conscience from taking actions against organizations related to the Kiev Metropolitanate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church while the main lawsuit to ban it is being considered.
