A rocket fragment fell 100 meters from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem

On Monday, March 16, at about 15:00 local time, a large fragment of a missile shot down by an air defense system fell 100 meters from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The incident occurred during a rocket fired by Iran towards Jerusalem. This is reported by ORTHODOXIANEWSAGENCY.GR.
According to media reports, the fragment is probably part of the control system of the downed missile. ERT journalist George Sideris said the damage caused by the fragment’s fall was minimal. Israeli police confirmed that rocket debris and fragments were found in several areas of the Old City, including the Holy Sepulchre compound and the Jewish Quarter.
A police statement emphasized that «the enemy does not distinguish between religions, synagogues, mosques or churches.» For security purposes, authorities have closed access to the holy sites to worshippers and tourists, following the recommendations of the Home Front Command. Police, sappers and border guards are working to eliminate potential threats in the affected areas.
Recall, earlier we reported that because of Israel’s war with Iran, temples, mosques and synagogues were closed in Jerusalem.
