Volyn Regional Council deputy calls for inspection of UOC Sunday schools in region "due to threat of propaganda"

A deputy of the Volyn Regional Council and lobbyist for the interests of the OCU, Andriy Bokoch, initiated large-scale inspections of training centers and Sunday schools operating under the religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region. According to the publication “BUG”, the corresponding request was voiced during the 35th session of the regional council and sent for consideration to the regional military administration.

The reason for this initiative was the situation that occurred in early 2026 in Kyiv. In the capital’s monastery of the UOC Holosiivska Pustyn (Goloseevsky Monastery), journalists harassed the private school Perspectiva, which resulted in the closure of the school. According to the deputy, “instead of spiritual education, this institution conducted systematic propaganda: children were taught using Soviet textbooks, the culture of the aggressor country was imposed and Russian was taught under the guise of a ‘Slavic’ language.” The program, according to Bokoch, allegedly “systematically devalued Ukrainian values and glorified the Soviet past.”

Andriy Bokoch emphasized that in the case in question , “about 60 children were subjected to ideological processing five days a week.” In order to ensure national security and prevent similar threats in the Volyn region, the deputy called for an inspection of all educational structures and family clubs operating under the UOC communities. This request has already received the support of fellow deputies and has been submitted to the relevant departments for an appropriate response.

Earlier, Andriy Bokoch made a curious statement on Forgiveness Sunday, publicly refusing to apologize to the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). He motivated his decision by the fact that the words of the UOC representatives, in his opinion, do not contain love and are aimed at inciting hatred.
