Athens will host an open discussion on the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on the Patriarchate of Constantinople

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, a public discussion will be held in the Greek capital to analyze the relationship between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the current Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The event will bring together experts in theology and literature to analyze the geopolitical situation in depth.
According to the Fos Fanariou news portal, the meeting is being organized by the Polytropon art collective. The discussion will start at 19:30 in the premises of the Enastron Book Café, located at 101 Solonos Street, Athens.
Keynote speakers at the event will be Kostas Koutsourelis, renowned writer and director of Neo Planodion magazine, and Panayiotis An. Andriopoulos, theologian and leader of the collective Polytropop. Participants will discuss the challenges faced by the Orthodox Church in the context of military confrontation and the role of the Constantinople Cathedral in the modern peacemaking and inter-church process.
Earlier we reported that a round table was held in Tbilisi, where public figures, clergy and experts discussed the responsibility of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople for the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The event, which was preceded by a protest, was devoted to a critical report by political analyst Gulbaat Rtskhiladze on the pressure on the UOC.
