Four new members of the Orthodox Church were solemnly baptized in Côte d'Ivoire

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the parish of St. Maximus the Confessor in Bingerville, Côte d’Ivoire, four oath-takers received the holy sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation. According to Orthodox Times, the solemn event took place with the blessing of Metropolitan Daniel of Accra, whose pastoral responsibility extends to Côte d’Ivoire and Mali.

The sacraments were administered by high-ranking clergy of the Metropolis: Archimandrite Chrysostom Kamwanga, preacher of the Holy Metropolis; Protopresbyter Joseph Zein Hassan, general secretary of the Holy Metropolis; and Deacon Jacob. The official rite of reception into the fold of the Church took place in a solemn atmosphere in the presence of the local community.

The newly enlightened members of the Church were members of the same family, who received the names Devorah, Mary, John and Elijah in baptism. This event was an important step in the expansion of the Orthodox mission in the region, strengthening the spiritual ties of the local people with the Orthodox Church.
