Soros Foundation to give $30 million "to fight anti-Semitism and Islamophobia"

The international network of Open Society Foundations has announced a large-scale initiative to counter discrimination and hatred on a global scale. The head of the foundation, Alexander Soros, will allocate $30 million to support organizations fighting anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in the United States and around the world.
Alexander Soros called the decision a deeply personal matter for his family. The son of renowned billionaire George Soros emphasized that as a Jew and a descendant of a Holocaust survivor, as well as being married to a Muslim woman, he is acutely aware of the dangers of persecution on national and religious grounds. “Discrimination and hatred are not just abstract concepts to me and my family,” he said in his video message.
The allocated funds are intended to strengthen the security of vulnerable groups and protect the rights of minorities. Alexander Soros called for consolidation of efforts, saying that the current moment requires decisive action against the spread of hostility. It should be noted that the activities of the Open Society Foundation often cause mixed reactions in society: earlier there were opinions that the organization’s investments may have a negative impact on traditional family and religious values.
