At the Olshansky Convent of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, three novices took their monastic vows

A solemn ceremony took place at the women’s monastery dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God “Joy and Consolation,” located in the Kyiv region: three novices received their monastic tonsure. The sacrament was performed by the monastery’s spiritual father and founder, Archbishop Ion (Cherepanov), on the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.
According to , in keeping with a long-standing tradition at the Olshansky Convent, during the tonsure ceremony, Sister Ilaria (Lozovskaya) was draped in the mantle of St. Philotheos (Zervakos), which is kept at the convent; her monastic name remained the same. Other novices received new names: Daria Lyaskovets took her vows under the name Eusebia in honor of the Venerable Eusebia of Rome, and Natalia Nazimova became Sister Paissia in honor of the Venerable Paissius of the Holy Mountain.
Representatives of the monastery emphasized the exceptional spiritual significance of this day for the entire community. “We thank the Lord for this joy! We ask for the saints’ prayers for the newly tonsured sisters,” the monastery’s official statement reads. It should be noted that the monastery in Malaya Olshanka is known as the site where the venerated icon of the Mother of God “Joy and Consolation” is kept, along with relics associated with the legacy of Elder Philotheos (Zervakos).
As we previously reported, at the Holy Trinity Church of the Transfiguration Convent of the Khmelnytskyi Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, located in the village of Golovchintsy, the rite of monastic tonsure was performed for two nuns, who received the lesser schema. The solemn divine service was presided over by Metropolitan Victor of Khmelnytskyi and Starokostiantyniv.
