In the Khmelnytskyi region, TRC officers forcibly mobilized a priest of the UOC

A high-profile incident occurred in the Kamianets-Podilskyi District of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast: Archpriest Vladimir Gordiychuk, rector of the Paraskevi Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), was detained by officers of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) on the night before the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. According to (UOJ), the clergyman ceased to respond after the conclusion of the evening service on August 18, 2026.

According to the information received, Father Vladimir went home after cleaning the church, but did not arrive for the festive Liturgy the following morning. His relatives and parishioners organized a search, which yielded no results for a long time, as the priest’s cell phone was turned off. The situation became clear only on August 19, when the archpriest was able to make a brief call to his son.

During the conversation, the priest reported that he was in handcuffs and that representatives of the TSK were taking him to undergo a military medical examination. Relatives are deeply concerned about the archpriest’s health, noting that he suffers from serious chronic illnesses. The family and the parish fear that his health issues may be ignored during the mobilization process and are calling on the public to offer their prayers in support.

As a reminder, on August 17, 2026, in the village of Khvorostov in the Volyn region, Archimandrite Anthony (Dzhezhela), the rector of the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, was detained and forcibly mobilized. The Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church confirmed this incident and called on the faithful to offer their prayers in support of the clergyman.
