Bruno Kant, the world's oldest Catholic priest, has passed away in Germany

Bruno Kant, the oldest Catholic priest in the world, passed away in the German town of Eichenzell (Hesse) in his 111th year of life. At the time of his death, which occurred on May 29, he was 110 years and 92 days old. In addition to his spiritual status, Kant was also recognized as one of the oldest veterans of World War II.

According to the news agency «Blagovest-info», Bruno Kant’s life path was full of historical events. Born in 1916 in Saxony, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht during the war and fought on the eastern front. After the end of hostilities in 1945, he was taken into Soviet captivity, where he spent three years. He dedicated his life to the service of the church in 1950 by ordaining a priest and remained in active service until the age of 102.

Even at the age of 108, Father Bruno remained relatively alert and moved with the aid of a walker. His contribution to the community was appreciated during his lifetime: in Petersberg-Marbach a street is named in his honor, and in Eichenzell-Löschenrode the square in front of the church bears his name. It is worth noting that longevity is a hallmark of the Kant family — his older sister lived to the age of 108 and his younger brother died at the age of 105.
