In Kyiv, TRC officers forcibly conscripted a priest on duty from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

In Kyiv, according to church media reports, Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) officials detained Father Oleksandr Drobiazko, the rector of the Assumption Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It is reported that the clergyman was taken to a police station, underwent a military medical examination, and was deemed fit for service; currently, according to the report, he is being held at a training unit in the Chernihiv region.
According to the Telegram channel “First Cossack, ” the incident occurred on June 4, 2026, near the Uspensky Cathedral of the UOC in Kyiv. According to the source, TRC officers asked the clergyman about his religious affiliation and then detained him.
The report states that Father Oleksandr Drobiazko was taken to a police station, where he was handcuffed. The priest was then brought before a military medical commission in this state, which ultimately deemed him “fit for military service.”
The source also claims that representatives of the Military Registration and Enlistment Office repeatedly cited the detainee’s religious affiliation as the reason for their actions. According to the publication, the clergyman refuses to sign any documents, citing his priestly vows.
As a reminder, we previously reported that in the Khmelnytskyi region, TRC officers detained Archpriest Volodymyr Sereda, rector of the Church of St. John the Theologian in the village of Korchivka. The priest was forcibly taken to Teofipol to undergo a military medical examination.
