The Ukrainian Orthodox Church—Kyiv Patriarchate has admitted a clergyman and a parish from Romania into its ranks

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP) has expanded its structure by incorporating clergy from abroad. The head of the UOC-KP, Nikodim Kobzar, officially accepted a Romanian priest and his parish under his omophorion. Kobzar wrote about this on his social media accounts.
According to official data, the decision to accept the new clergyman was approved on June 20, 2026. Father Gheorghe-Alexandru Akasandrei has joined the Kyiv Patriarchate along with the Parish of St. Alexander, located in the village of Corbasca, Bacău County, Romania. The priest submitted his request on June 4, 2026, expressing his desire to maintain “canonical unity” with the structure led by Nikodim.
Based on the signed decree, the Romanian priest now comes under the direct authority of the head of the UOC-KP. Within the religious organization itself, this event was described as another stage in the “consolidation” of the Kyiv Patriarchate’s structure.
As a reminder, earlier, the head of the UOC-KP, Nikodim Kobzar, accepted clergyman Konstantin Chernushka and his parish in Romania into the religious structure he leads. The decision was made based on a submitted request to transfer to the jurisdiction of the “Kyiv Patriarchate.”
