Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and the Latin Patriarch are paying a second visit to the Gaza Strip

Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, are making their second joint pastoral visit to the Gaza Strip. According to the Greek news agency Orthodoxia News Agency, the trip was organized as part of the responsibility of the Christian churches of Jerusalem toward local communities and the entire population of the region, which continues to experience severe humanitarian upheaval, suffering, and uncertainty.

Accompanying the church leaders to Gaza were Dr. Joseph D. Blotz, Grand Hospitaller of the Sovereign Order of Malta, and representatives of the international humanitarian organization Malteser International. The joint visit aims to strengthen the spirit of the faithful, bring them comfort, and demonstrate an unwavering Christian presence rooted in the Gospel and the sacred mission of the Holy City.

During their stay, the hierarchs will meet with local clergy, representatives of religious communities, Christian families, and other citizens affected by the protracted crisis. The participation of representatives of the Order of Malta underscores the long-term commitment of religious humanitarian organizations to healthcare, emergency aid, and the protection of human dignity in Gaza.

It is worth recalling that the first such joint pastoral visit by the patriarchs to the conflict zone took place earlier, marking an important step in showing support. At that time, they became the first religious leaders to visit the Gaza Strip in person in a long time since the conflict escalated, in order to assess the situation of their flock firsthand.
