France has seen a sharp increase in anti-Christian incidents

The French Ministry of the Interior has published the “Report on Anti-Religious Acts in 2025,” which documents an alarming rise in religiously motivated violence. According to official data, 843 incidents targeting Christians were recorded in the country in 2025, accounting for more than 30% of all anti-religious crimes in the country. This was reported byEvangelical Focus.

According to the statistics presented, the overwhelming majority of offenses (87%) involved property damage. Christian churches and holy sites were attacked 627 times, including 362 cases of theft or attempted robbery, and 254 incidents of vandalism and graffiti. Data on arson is particularly alarming: during the reporting period, perpetrators made 45 attempts to set fire to places of worship.

In addition to physical attacks on buildings, there was an 86 percent increase in threats against worshippers and disruptions of religious services. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez officially described the current situation as a “resurgence of anti-religious acts,” emphasizing that the problem affects all faiths. The report also points to record levels of antisemitism (more than 1,600 cases) and an increase in aggression against Muslims, while authorities note the technical difficulty of monitoring such threats online.
