A monk from the Pokrovsky Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was abducted in Liman

Two weeks ago, Archimandrite Avvakum was abducted from the Pokrovsky Men’s Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Liman. A group of unidentified individuals dressed in military uniforms forcibly took the cleric away in an unknown direction, after which all contact with him was lost.

According to the Union of Orthodox Journalists (SPZ), preliminary reports suggest that military personnel from brigades stationed on the Liman sector of the front may be involved in this incident. At present, the clergyman’s whereabouts remain unknown, raising serious concerns for his life and safety.

As a reminder, earlier, Metropolitan Vladimir of Volyn and Kovel, who heads the Volyn-Kovel Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), issued an urgent appeal to the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine in the Volyn region. In his statement, the hierarch expressed deep concern and sorrow over the increasing pressure on the clergy and believers of the diocese, and also reported on the detentions of clergy members.
