Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy has been discharged from the hospital after two weeks of treatment

Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv, one of the hierarchs of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church who has been under constant pressure from government authorities, was discharged from the hospital after two weeks of intensive treatment. The news of His Eminence’s discharge from the hospital was confirmed via the diocese’s official Telegram channel, where they expressed gratitude to all the faithful for their prayers and support.

The hierarch’s hospitalization on June 22 was due to a sharp deterioration in his health related to cardiac problems. Metropolitan Theodosius’s health condition is a cause for serious concern against the backdrop of years of persecution, including house arrest and pressure on the diocese he leads, whose churches have repeatedly been the targets of violent seizures.

A medical examination during his most recent hospitalization confirmed the presence of serious consequences from previous acts of violence, specifically injuries to the cervical spine and head sustained in October 2024 during the seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral. In addition, doctors diagnosed the metropolitan with third-degree chronic hypertension. Previously, His Eminence had suffered a heart attack and survived assassination attempts; furthermore, according to reports from the diocese, he underwent prolonged treatment last December as a result of poisoning.
