The Patriarchate of Jerusalem commented on the upcoming visit of Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel

The Patriarchate of Jerusalem is preparing for an important event: Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria and Metropolitan of Sofia will visit the Holy Land from September 25 to 30, 2026. According to Orthodox Times, this visit will serve as a symbol of unity and spiritual support during a difficult time for the region.

The highlight of the program will be a solemn concelebrated Divine Liturgy, which Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and Patriarch Daniel will celebrate on September 27 at the Holy Sepulcher. The Patriarchate of Jerusalem emphasizes that the upcoming meeting is a clear confirmation of the historical ties and Eucharistic communion between the two local Churches.

An official statement from the Patriarchate notes that the visit by the head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, amid the current trials in the Middle East, serves as a practical expression of solidarity with the region’s Christian community. The primates will offer joint prayers for the preservation of the Christian presence in the Holy Land and for the establishment of peace.

The Bulgarian delegation accompanying Patriarch Daniel will include Metropolitans John of Varna and Veliko Preslav, Seraphim of Nevrokop, and Bishop Gerasim of Melnik. In addition to Jerusalem, the pilgrimage itinerary includes a visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
