Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel is on an official visit to Jerusalem and Jordan

Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel has begun an official visit to the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, which will take place from September 25 to 30, 2026. The trip, organized at the invitation of Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and approved by the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, aims to strengthen spiritual ties and demonstrate the unity of Orthodoxy, according to Orthodox Times.

The official delegation accompanying the Primate of the Bulgarian Church includes hierarchs and representatives of the clergy, such as Metropolitan John of Varna and Veliko Preslav and Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop. As part of the program for their stay in the Holy Land, visits to major Christian holy sites are planned, and the highlight will be a joint Divine Liturgy celebrated by Patriarchs Theophilos III and Daniel, which will take place on September 27.

After completing the program in Jerusalem, the delegation will travel to Jordan. It is expected that during the visit to the Hashemite Kingdom, Patriarch Daniel will meet with King Abdullah II. During the meetings, special attention will be given to the current situation in the Middle East, calls for peace in the region, and support for Christian communities living in the Holy Land.
