Russian ecclesiastical mission in Israel reached an agreement on the return of its site in Qana

The Russian ecclesiastical mission in the Holy Land and the municipality of Kfar Kana (Kana of Galilee) have reached an agreement in principle on the return of the mission and the further joint development of the Russian section located in the center of the city, Interfax reports.
«This decision should subsequently be formalized by a resolution of the local city council and obtain approval from the Israeli Interior Minister,» Hegumen Nikon (Golovko), the secretary of the Jerusalem mission in Jerusalem, told Interfax.
The Russian Garden in Cana of Galilee was acquired in 1913. By 1946, the site was registered with the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem. In 2016, the land was requisitioned in favor of the city, and now «an agreement in principle has been reached on its return to the mission,» the priest said.
The plot in Cana of Galilee «Russian Garden» at the southern entrance to the city was acquired by Archimandrite Leonid (Sentsov) and has an area of 4990 sq. meters.
