Dmitry Lubinets spoke about the possibility of exchanging representatives of the UOC for captured Ukrainians

On December 10, 2022, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets gave an exclusive interview to Radio Liberty, in which, in particular, he answered a question about the possibility of exchanging representatives of the UOC for captured Ukrainians.
“I would not like to focus the issue on the representatives of the church,” the Ombudsman said.
At the same time, he noted that any citizen of the Russian Federation who is of interest to the Russian authorities can be exchanged «for the sake of the return of our heroes.»
“We can only change prisoners of war. We can only release civilians within the framework, perhaps, of some kind of mutual obligations. Or, for example, after being convicted, send them to the territory of the Russian Federation to serve their sentence. It is very important for us, firstly, to find legal grounds. And we have them. And different options. And secondly, yes, we are ready to do it,” summed up Lubinets.
