There are no sanctions for activities without registration - deputies

MPs Yevheniya Kravchuk and Mykita Poturaev have commented on the possibility for religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to operate if they are deregistered in connection with the anti-church law No 8371 adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. The MPs unanimously said that the communities would allegedly be able to function without registration. They said this in a joint interview with Telegraf.
When asked by the journalist whether sanctions are envisaged if UOC congregations without registration carry out religious activities, MP Poturaev replied: “We do not have freedom of conscience restricted in any way and cannot be restricted”.
Poturaev’s words were confirmed by his party colleague Yevgeniya Kravchuk. “No. This is precisely the freedom of religion and conscience,” – she said.
We will remind, the people’s Deputy of Ukraine and head of the Committee on humanitarian and information policy Nikita Poturaev said that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will not go underground after Her final ban. The MP is convinced that only a few people in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are ready for such a step, while the majority need familiar conditions.
