Public hearings on the ban of the UOC were held in Rivne

On October 28, 2024, public hearings were held in Rivne on the topic of banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The event was attended by members of the Verkhovna Rada and the City Council, public activists, representatives of the OCU and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. During the hearings, issues related to further steps to implement the provisions of Law No. 3894 (formerly No. 8371) in the region were discussed. This is reported by the regional publication RIVNE 1.
«Religious historian Volodymyr Borshchevych is convinced that the Russian Orthodox Church is an instrument of politics and aggression. This is evidenced by many historical events. Instead, a representative of the UOC denies any ties between their religious organization and Russia. He calls the current events a split in society. Oleksandr Maksymiuk began to justify himself by saying that they are guided by a charter that was issued before Ukraine’s independence. According to the secretary of the Rivne Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Petro Martyniuk, the invasion of the spiritual life of Ukraine has been going on for 300 years. And the law passed by the deputies banning religious institutions associated with the Russian Federation is extremely important,» the story says.
As reported earlier, the city council of Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk region, called on residents to come to public hearings on the ban on the activities of the local St. Panteleimon Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the territory of the community. The hearing is scheduled for November 11, 2024.
