Bessarabian Metropoly deepens cooperation with the Government of Moldova

The Bessarabian Metropolitanate of the Romanian Orthodox Church continues to develop on the territory of Moldova, provoking a conflict with the local Orthodox Church of Moldova. This time, the head of the Bessarabian Metropolis, Metropolitan Peter (Peduraru), signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova. This is reported by the official website of the Ministry.

«On November 15, 2024, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia signed a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Bessarabian Metropolis. This official document marks the commitment of the two institutions to develop spiritual and moral education and provide religious assistance to employees of the structures subordinate to the Ministry. The agreement, concluded in accordance with constitutional provisions, is aimed at providing religious assistance to meet the spiritual needs of the ministry’s employees. It is also aimed at strengthening moral and spiritual education and promoting Christian values in the institutions under its jurisdiction. Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros thanked Metropolitan of Bessarabia for his openness and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for strengthening spiritual and moral values among the employees of the Ministry,» the press release of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova reads.

Earlier, we reported that more than 60 parishes of the Orthodox Church of Moldova (part of the Moscow Patriarchate) have transferred to the Bessarabian Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church. One of the most recent cases occurred in the city of Cricova, where the parish of the OCM in honor of St. Alexander Svirsky celebrated its “return” to the Romanian Patriarchate.
