Head of UGCC concerned about activity of UOC priests in Europe

The head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, complains about the active work of the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church abroad. As an example, Shevchuk cites Germany, where, as he said, “pro-Russian oligarchs” have gone to pay for the missionary activities of the UOC among Ukrainian refugees who fled the country due to the Russian-Ukrainian war. Shevchuk said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

“But where our Ukrainian community leaders speak about this directly is in Germany. Pro-Russian oligarchs fled from Ukraine to Germany. And they are using Russian money to create a parallel Ukrainian community there, to which they are trying to lure Russian-speaking Ukrainians in particular. And then the attempts are very simple. To create a protest potential from our emigrants, who will then protest against the policy of their state, who will be for “world peace” in the context of the “Russian world,” – Shevchuk said.

Earlier, we reported that with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, with the participation of Archpriest Oleksandr Klymenko, a cleric of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, missionary, preacher and winner of the all-Ukrainian competition “Voice of the Country 7,” UOC parishes in Western Europe held charity concerts to raise funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
