Pope again calls on Ukrainians to forgive enemies

Pope Francis took part in a videoconference with 250 young Ukrainians from Kyiv and various cities in Europe and America. The head of the Roman Catholic Church addressed Ukrainian youth and called on them to remember their heroes and forgive their enemies. This was reported by Vatican News.
It is reported that the meeting of the Pontiff with Ukrainian youth was held on the initiative of the head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk and with the support of the Apostolic Nuncio of the RCC in Ukraine Wieslaw Kulbokas. The meeting, which Shevchuk called “the first ever meeting of the Pope with young Ukrainians,” took place at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv.
“It is very difficult to forgive. We always try to wage war and respond to a blow with another blow. But to build a peaceful future, we must forgive each other. Always,” — Pope Francis said.
Earlier, we reported that the head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, tried to justify Pope Francis in the Ukrainian media for his words that Russians and Ukrainians are brothers who must find ways to mutual understanding. Sviatoslav Shevchuk argues that the Pontiff is trying to stay above the conflict, thus fulfilling his pastoral mission.
