First Hierarch of the Estonian Orthodox Church urged to intensify prayer in connection with the forthcoming ban of the EOC

The head of the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Eugene of Tallinn, published a message in connection with the possible future ban of the EOC. The First Hierarch called for increased prayers, preserving peace of mind. The text of the message is published on the official website of the EOC MP.

“This Lent is associated for us not only with bodily restrictions and spiritual labor, but also with worries about our Church. The Estonian Parliament continues to consider a bill to amend the law on churches and parishes, which will significantly affect the life of the Church and its parishes. Next week, on Wednesday, March 26, the second reading of the draft amendments to the law will take place. On this day, I urge all of you to pray earnestly for the preservation of our persecuted Church, adding to your prayers the readings of the Holy Gospel and the Psalms. I ask everyone to keep peace of mind and remember that the main means of overcoming all trials is fasting and prayer. May the All-Merciful Lord accept our labors and grant us the opportunity to celebrate His Glorious Resurrection in peace and harmony,” – the message reads.

Earlier we reported that the vicar of the Tallinn Diocese of the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, Bishop Daniel of Tartu, spoke during the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, which is being held in Geneva from February 24 to April 4, 2025. The hierarch noted that the EOC of the Moscow Patriarchate is forced to bear responsibility for the position of religious and secular figures living in other countries.
