"Right Sector" boasted of its involvement in the capture of the UOC church in Dubovtsi

On April 1, 2025, in the village of Dubovtsi, located in Bukovina, a violent takeover of the Assumption Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took place. The raid involved fighters of the DUK “Right Sector,” activists of the “Right Youth,” and representatives of the All-Ukrainian Union “Trident” named after Stepan Bandera. This was reported on the official page of “Right Sector” on April 3, 2025.
According to the information on the organization’s page, the activists “stood in defense” of the community of the village of Dubovtsi, which allegedly made a “conscious decision” to switch from the UOC to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). The right-wing radicals claim that the believers who protested against the church’s takeover were “outsiders,” brought by buses specifically for this purpose.
“Nevertheless, Ukrainian nationalists did not allow the will of the community to be broken! The Church belongs to the people, not to the enemies of Ukraine!” — this is how the events were commented on by “Right Sector.”
It should be reminded that on April 1, 2025, supporters of the OCU, with the physical support of militants from the right-wing radical organization “Trident named after Stepan Bandera,” carried out a raider-style takeover of the Holy Assumption Church of the Chernivtsi-Bukovinian Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Dubovtsi, Chernivtsi region.
