In Bukovina, the persecuted community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church built a new church in three months to replace the one taken away by supporters of the OCU

In the village of Dubovtsy, Chernivtsi region, the local Holy Assumption religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church built a new church in record time to replace the one previously taken away by supporters of the OCU. The construction of the new religious building took three months, and on August 28, 2025, the parish celebrated its first patronal feast. This was reported on the Facebook page “Faithful of the Chernivtsi-Bukovina Diocese of the UOC.”

«More than 300 believers took part in the first patronal feast in the newly built church of the UOC in the village of Dubovtsy. The divine service took place in the newly built church. The religious community of the UOC, having united, built a new church in three months — even larger than the one that was seized by representatives of the OCU. This was a testament to their great strength of spirit, hope in God, and unity! It is worth mentioning that supporters of the OCU were offered a plot of land to build a new church, but they refused, saying that it was unrealistic to build a church in Dubovtsy. Given that they claimed to be in the majority, they could have built their own church. But now it is clear that their “majority” is virtual,» — the Facebook community reported.

We will remind you that on April 1, 2025, supporters of the OCU, with the physical support of militants from the right-wing radical organization “Trident of Stepan Bandera,” carried out a raider seizure of the Holy Assumption Church of the Chernivtsi-Bukovina Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Dubovtsy, Chernivtsi Region.
