A Futuristic OCU Church to Be Built in Lviv — the First in the City Center in 130 Years

Lviv will soon see the construction of the first OCU church in Ukraine designed through an open architectural competition. This new church will be built in the historical center of the city — the first such project in over 130 years. The announcement was made by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
The church will be dedicated to the Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos «She Who is Quick to Hear» and will be located on Pekarska Street, near the University of Veterinary Medicine.
The future building has a futuristic design. According to architect Andriy Lesiuk, the church’s facades and domes will be made of brickwork using advanced technologies. This, he says, will ensure not only the structure’s durability but also its harmonious integration into the surrounding environment.
The construction will be funded by private donations. Work is scheduled to begin after the war ends.
Previously, it was reported that the Lviv City Council, which had earlier confiscated all property belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Lviv Eparchy within the city, renounced its claim to the municipal park “Metropolitan Gardens” in favor of the UGCC. Due to this demonstrative loyalty of Lviv’s local authorities toward one religious denomination, the Economic Court even closed the case that had been under review on the matter.
