Religious Sentiments of Ukrainians in 2025 According to a Sociological Survey

Ahead of Easter, Gradus Research conducted a sociological survey that revealed how religious sentiments among Ukrainians are transforming. According to the results, 29% of respondents identify with the OCU, which remains the highest percentage among all confessions, although it has decreased by 3% compared to 2023. This information was reported by the RISU website.
The second position is occupied by Orthodox Christians without clear confessional affiliation, making up 24% of respondents.
8% of respondents stated they belong to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and the same percentage belong to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The figure for the latter has remained almost unchanged compared to 2023. Additionally, the share of atheists and agnostics remains stable, with 15% in 2025.
Gradus Research also noted that half of the respondents (51%) plan to visit church during the Easter week, mostly on Sunday, although some believers have chosen Thursday, Friday, or Saturday for this purpose. Only 29% of respondents do not plan to attend church, marking a significant decrease from last year when this number was 40%.
It was previously reported that the spokesperson for Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgiy Tykhyy, commented on the statement by Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, Kęstutis Mažeika, regarding a potential Russian attack on Ukraine during Easter, calling it a hypothesis, not an announcement.
