Visiting cemeteries in Kherson region banned during memorial days due to security concerns

The Defense Council of the Kherson region has decided to ban visits to cemeteries during memorial days. This restriction was introduced due to the difficult security situation in the region. The decision was announced by the press service of the Main Department of the National Police in Kherson region.

The ban does not apply to funeral processions. On memorial days, police patrols will be strengthened to monitor public order. Law enforcement officers have stated they will take appropriate action against those who violate the restrictions.

The police emphasized that in the de-occupied territories of Kherson region, many cemeteries remain mined or are within reach of enemy artillery and drones. Citizens are urged to understand the temporary restrictions, refrain from visiting cemeteries, and strictly follow safety protocols.

Earlier, it was reported that in the village of Toboly, Volyn region, supporters of the OCU provoked another interfaith conflict, using the funeral of fallen Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Oleh Prontsevych—a native of the village—as a pretext. A UOC priest who refused to provide the local church for the funeral service held by OCU representatives was accused of having “forbidden the funeral” of the fallen soldier.
