On the Anniversary of the Demolition of the Volodymyr-Olha Church, Bishop Klyment Led a Service at the Desyatynnyi Monastery

On May 17, 2025, marking the first anniversary of the destruction of the Volodymyr-Olha Church, His Grace Bishop Klyment, Bishop of Borivske and Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis, as well as the Abbot of the Desyatynnyi Monastery of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, conducted a Divine Liturgy in the monastery’s brotherhood building. This was reported by the official Telegram channel of the Desyatynnyi Monastery.

During the service, participants prayed for peace in Ukraine, asking the Lord to protect the people, provide shelter for those who have lost their homes, and deliver them from war, bloodshed, and suffering.

The service was attended by the monastery brethren and invited clergy alongside the archpastor.

After the Liturgy, the bishop together with the brethren and parishioners performed a prayer service at the site where the Volodymyr-Olha Church once stood.

Following the prayer service and the procession, all those present laid flowers at the site of the destroyed shrine. At the end of the ceremony, Bishop Klyment addressed the faithful with words of support and blessed all attendees.

It is worth recalling that one year after the barbaric demolition of the Volodymyr-Olha (Desyatynnyi) Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kyiv, the site where the building stood has become overgrown with weeds. Despite the fact that the land is located in a historic district of the capital, the city authorities, who previously approved the demolition of the UOC church, did not even bother to clear the construction debris left after the dismantling.
