In Moldova, police attacked a religious procession held in protest against a gay pride parade

On June 15, 2025, in Chisinau, police attacked a religious procession held by local Orthodox Christians to protest against a gay pride parade taking place in the city on the same day. Moldovan law enforcement officers brutally dispersed the procession, beating the believers. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Orthodox Moldova and the World.”
It is reported that Orthodox believers in Chisinau, responding to the LGBT community’s initiative to hold a gay pride parade, decided to hold a religious procession in support of traditional family values. However, shortly after the start of the procession, the believers were surrounded by a cordon of police officers who began to use force against the Orthodox residents of Chisinau. Law enforcement officers protecting the gay pride parade beat and detained supporters of traditional family values, despite the fact that there were many children among the participants of the procession.
Earlier, we reported that the Moldovan authorities had banned a procession in honor of the Holy Trinity from the village of Chishmiki to the city of Comrat. More than 3,000 believers from the Cahul and Comrat dioceses were going to take part in the prayer procession for peace and prosperity in the Gagauz land. As it became known, the initiators of the procession received an order from the security forces prohibiting the procession until the end of the gay parade, which will take place on the same days.
